2-Deoxy-D-Glucose
CAS: 154-17-6
Name:
2-Deoxy-D-Glucose
Other names:
2-Deoxy-D-arabino-hexose; SMR000857164; Ba 2758, 2-dGlc; SureCN7669; D-Arabino-2-deoxyhexose; Deoxyglucose
2-Deoxy-D-glucose is an apoptosis inhibitor that has been shown to be taken up by glial cells incubated with insulin. Studies indicate that this compound has the potential to suppress hypoxia in murine retinal tissue. Additionally, 2-Deoxy-D-glucose has been noted to be a glycolytic inhibitor via indirect inhibition of hexokinase (HXK) which results in endoplasmic reticulum stress. Other experiments suggest that this agent upregulates autophagy and lowers ATP levels in certain cancer cell lines. 2-Deoxy-D-glucose is an activator of AMPK and an inhibitor of GPI.

Increased intracellular NAD(+) levels in both time- and concentration-dependent manners. 2-DG also dose-dependently increased SIRT1 activities and the lifespan (measured as the cumulated growth curve of population doubling levels) of Hs68 cells; Suppress the level of constitutive mTOR- and DNA damage- signaling.
